Battle of Bataan

From 7 January to 9 April 1942 US and Philippine forces defended the Bataan Peninsula against Japanese forces under Masaharu Homma. On 9 April Major General Edward P. King surrendered; the article gives about 76,000 soldiers surrendered overall (with inconsistent breakdowns between Filipino and American troops). The Bataan Death March of the prisoners followed in April 1942 (a memorial caption dates it 9–17 April). Casualty figures given: Allied about 10,000 killed and 20,000 wounded; Japanese 3,107 killed and 5,069 wounded.
