Slovak National Uprising
29 Aug 1944 – 28 Oct 1944 · Central Slovakia (Banská Bystrica)
Parts of the Slovak army and partisan groups rose against the Tiso regime and the German forces entering Slovakia, with the centre in Banská Bystrica. Germany suppressed the uprising by late October 1944; the insurgents continued as guerrillas in the mountains.
