German invasion of Denmark and Norway (Operation Weserübung)

On 9 April 1940 Germany occupied Denmark within hours and launched air and sea landings across Norway. British, French and Polish forces intervened, notably around Narvik, but were withdrawn as the situation in France collapsed. Norway capitulated on 10 June; King Haakon VII and the government continued the fight from Britain.
