Occupation
Soviet occupation and annexation of the Baltic states
15 Jun 1940 – 6 Aug 1940 · Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
After ultimatums in June 1940, the Red Army occupied Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Staged elections produced assemblies that requested admission to the USSR, and the three states were formally annexed in early August 1940. Arrests and deportations followed, culminating in the mass deportations of June 1941.
