After Soviet air raids on 25 June 1941, Finland re-entered the war against the USSR alongside Germany, recapturing the territory lost in 1940 and advancing into Soviet Karelia. The Soviet offensive of June 1944 forced Finland to seek an armistice, signed in Moscow on 19 September 1944.
